Exeter railway station, New South Wales

Exeter Railway Station is a station on the Main South railway line in New South Wales, Australia and serves the small Southern Highlands village of Exeter. Trains of the Southern Highlands line of the CityRail network serve the station. The station opened in 1878 as Badgery's Siding, but was renamed to Exeter, after the name of a local farm, on 12 August 1890.^[1] The station has two platforms that serve the diesel railcars that use the line. The up (Sydney-bound) platform is of a dual height, allowing different era trains to use the station if required, without a large gap between the platform and the train.

The platforms are not connected, and passengers are required to cross the tracks on a specialist foot crossing at the northern end of the station to reach the opposite platform. Since both platforms are level, there is effectively Easy Access to the station.

Platforms and services

The station is on the CityRail Southern Highlands line, which is served by three trains a day each way on weekdays for the stations further south of Moss Vale. These trains operate in the early morning and in the evenings. During the daytime there is a replacement bus service heading south in the mornings, and heading north in the afternoon. On weekends there are two services each way, in the early morning and evening.^[2]

Connecting Services

The station has an adjoining bus stop, which is served by a twice-daily South Coast (Wollongong) to Southern Highlands (Bundanoon) CityRail bus route which operates via Robertson. This bus comes from Bundanoon in the early morning heading to Wollongong and a return service from Wollongong to Bundanoon operates in the evening. This service operates on weekdays and weekends.
